Last week I had a horse-riding accident and as a result, broke my wrist. That happened on the Thursday and they put a temporary cast on until they could do Block therapy on the following Tuesday.
When I was told this, I pictured the scene in Misery where Kathy Bates smashes James Caan's ankles.
I was pleasantly surprised when the doctor explained about the Bier's block procedure. The whole manipulation only took one hour and my bone had been reset without causing me any pain.
The doctor remarked that I had good bone density, so when I got home, I googled things that promote strong bones. One of the things that cropped up was brisk walking... something I do daily. In fact, this picture was taken in Kingley Vale, the day following me breaking my wrist. This is something I talk about with my clients and always discuss the benefits of moving.
Other ways to promote healthy bones include:
Eat lots of vegetables
Eat a healthy well balanced diet
Get plenty of Vitamin D and K
Weight bearing exercises
Avoid excessive alcohol
